Whisk your matcha the traditional way with Romi Bamboo Matcha Whisk (also known as a chasen). Designed to create a soft, creamy foam and delicate microbubbles, it helps bring out the best in your matcha.
Lightweight, precise, and naturally flexible, this traditional bamboo matcha whisk helps create a smooth, creamy, well-balanced cup of ceremonial matcha at home.
How to Use
Before first use
Soak the whisk in warm, not boiling, water for 10–15 minutes. This helps gently open the prongs and prepares the bamboo chasen for whisking.
Before each use
Soak in warm water for 1–2 minutes to soften the bamboo. This helps prevent breakage and allows for smooth & effortless whisking.
How to Care
Rinse with warm water after each use and avoid soap. If any matcha remains, gently whisk it in clean water to remove residue.
Shake off excess water and leave it to air dry fully in a well-ventilated space. Store upright to help maintain its natural shape.
Do not put in the dishwasher.
For the best whisking experience, we recommend replacing your bamboo matcha whisk every 3–6 months, depending on use.
Clear Usucha
- Sift 2-3g (1.5-2 tsp) of matcha into a bowl
- Add 60ml of hot water (60-80°C)
- Whisk in wave motion (M or W) for 20 seconds until frothy
- Add 6 - 8g (1-1.5 tsp) of agave syrup (optional)
- Enjoy straight from the bowl or over ice!
Classic Latte
- Sift 4-5g (3 tsp) of matcha into a bowl
- Add 50ml of hot water (60-80°C) — use less for a stronger taste
- Whisk in wave motion (M or W) for 20 seconds
- Add 6-8g (1-1.5 tsp) of agave syrup and whisk a few more seconds
- Prepare 100 ml of milk - warm or cold with ice.
- Pour matcha over milk, and enjoy!
